Self Declaration Form

Self-declaration by operators for movements of aquaculture animals to other Member States

To comply with Article 218(1) of Regulation (EU) 2016/429 (Animal Health Law), operators are obliged to issue a self-declaration document when moving aquaculture animals between Member States, provided that an animal health certificate is not required. This document must accompany the animals during their movement.

Article 218(1) of Regulation (EU) 2016/429 (Animal Health Law):

Paragraph 2 of the Article sets out details of the information that should be contained in the self-declaration document.

What does this mean for you?

You should continue to apply for exports as normal – this requirement has not changed.

The Marine Institute has however, amended the Online Movement Application for Shellfish, so that the Application Summary you receive when you apply on-line to export molluscs, contains the information set out in paragraph 2 of Article 218. This summary can serve as a Self-Declaration Document to accompany the consignment.

Key changes include:

  • Updates to the online movement application form to ensure it captures the necessary details.

  • The approval email received after submitting your application now includes both the application summary and self-declaration.

We trust this development will be useful to you in ensuring your compliance with legislative requirements under the Animal Health Law.
